As 2025 draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what has been an exciting, transformative, and rewarding year at Northern Energy.
From strategic investments and fleet expansion to successful installations, community initiatives, and team milestones, it’s been a year defined by growth, innovation and delivering reliable LPG solutions to off-grid homes, farms, and businesses across the UK.
Trusted service and recognition
We began the year on a high note, proudly receiving the Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award for the third year running. This recognition is particularly meaningful to us because it is based entirely on genuine customer feedback, reflecting the experiences of those who rely on Northern Energy every day.
The award is testament to the dedication, care, and hard work our team puts into every aspect of what we do, from friendly, knowledgeable customer service and dependable deliveries to safe, professional installations and ongoing support. Most importantly, it's about the trust our customers place in us, whether we’re keeping family homes warm, supporting critical industrial operations, or providing reliable LPG for farms and rural businesses.
To be recognised year after year reinforces our commitment to consistently delivering the high standards of service our customers expect and deserve.
A strategic milestone: Focusing our energy on LPG
March marked an important milestone for Northern Energy with the sale of the oil business to NWF Fuels Ltd.
This transition allowed us to focus 100% on, and invest in, LPG, further strengthening our position as a dedicated and independent off-grid gas supplier. It was a positive step that enabled us to invest further in infrastructure and our fleet, while continuing to build a strong and sustainable future for our LPG customers.
The move reflects our commitment to doing what's right for the long term, ensuring we are well placed to support homes, farms, and businesses with a reliable LPG supply for many years to come.
Growth and Investment: Strengthening our network
2025 has been a year of significant investment and expansion.
We celebrated the opening of our new operational depot in Boroughbridge, expanding our supply network and supporting our existing eight depots nationwide. The new facility gives us more storage capacity and strengthens logistics, enabling even more reliable and efficient fuel deliveries, while maintaining the independent, family-run service our customers know and trust.
In September, a new chapter began when we expanded into Devon and Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset. In partnership with Heltor Oils, we now supply bulk LPG, sourced from the Fawley refinery in Southampton, directly from their Newton Abbot depot, strengthening local availability, and offering a truly customer-focused alternative to the national suppliers. This marks a major milestone for our business as we continue to grow our footprint across the UK.
We’ve also invested in new wagons, including a state-of-the-art low-loader which can transport LPG tanks across our network. All these new vehicles help us to continue to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable energy to homes and businesses alike.

These investments reflect not just Northern Energy’s commitment to growth, but also the wider LPG industry focus on future-ready infrastructure, with nearly £415 million investment planned for UK LPG and renewable liquid gases between 2025 to 2030.

Delivering reliable energy for homes and businesses
2025 has been a busy and successful year for Northern Energy, supporting both domestic off-grid households and businesses across a wide range of sectors, including hospitality, industry, care homes, holiday parks, and agriculture, to name a few.
Alongside our commercial customers, we’ve welcomed many new domestic customers this year who have switched to Northern Energy smoothly and without disruption. These households are now benefiting from prompt, reliable deliveries, courteous and professional drivers, and excellent customer service from our experienced team. For many off-grid homes, this peace of mind, knowing their fuel supply is in safe, dependable hands, has made a real difference.
On the commercial and industrial side, we completed a number of standout installations. These include a seamless LPG installation for an industrial processing company in St. Helens, Merseyside, delivered with minimum disruption and now fully operational, providing reliable, efficient energy to support critical processes. We also completed a major installation for an industrial heating company in Telford, further demonstrating our capability to deliver tailored solutions for demanding applications.
In agriculture, a poultry farm in Lancashire now benefits from a new LPG installation that complements its existing biomass systems, helping meet increased demand, while improving resilience and operational continuity.
Whether we’re supplying a family home, or a large commercial operation, our focus remains the same: delivering safe, scalable and efficient LPG solutions that keep homes warm, businesses running smoothly, and customers confident in their LPG supply.
Celebrating our team
Our team truly are at the heart of Northern Energy Gas, and 2025 was a year full of milestones, achievements, and moments that reflect our C.A.R.E. values in action every day.
We marked the retirement of our dynamic duo, Chris and Jayne, who together clocked up nearly 60 years of combined service. Their dedication, knowledge, and commitment have made a lasting impact on the business, and while they are very much missed, we wish them both a long, happy and well-earned retirement.
This year also saw Harry, who joined us as a trainee engineer, qualify as a fully certified gas engineer. His journey is a great example of how we support, encourage, and invest in our people, bringing fresh talent and skills into the field to deliver excellent service to our customers.
We were also proud to celebrate Gavin, our National Sales Manager, who reached the semi-finals at the English Open Pickleball Championship. The same focus, teamwork and dedication he brings to Northern Energy were clearly on display on the court too.
A particularly proud moment for the business was the recognition of our leadership: our Managing Director, Stu, was awarded the prestigious Vistage Leadership Award 2025. This accolade celebrates his outstanding leadership, vision, and commitment, and reflects the positive culture, strong values, and clear direction he fosters across Northern Energy. Under his guidance, we look forward to continuing to grow and go from strength to strength in the years ahead.
Throughout the year, we made time to come together at staff social events, from our annual Operations dinner at The Yorkshire Hotel in Harrogate to our Christmas party at Oakdale Golf Club. These events are not only a chance to unwind and have fun, but they also reflect how much we value our people, recognise their hard work, and enjoy spending time together as a team.
By supporting one another, celebrating achievements, and sharing successes, we continue to build a strong, motivated team that delivers the care, reliability and effort our customers expect from Northern Energy.
Supporting our community
Giving back to the communities we serve has always been a core part of who we are and 2025 has been no exception. Throughout the year, our team proudly took part in a range of fundraising activities, charity events, and local sponsorships, all driven by a shared desire to make a positive difference.
One of the highlights of the year was our annual Golf Day, once again held at Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, sponsored, and donated, we raised an incredible £13,600 for Martin House Children’s Hospice, a charity that provides vital care to children, young people and families during challenging times and a cause that remains very close to our hearts. In September, we were delighted to welcome Rebecca Taylor, Regional Fundraiser at Martin House, to our Head Office in Hampsthwaite, where our Sales and Customer Experience Director, Ted Illingworth, proudly presented the cheque on behalf of the whole Northern Energy team.
Alongside this flagship event, our colleagues also got involved in Macmillan Coffee Morning, coming together to raise funds and awareness for people affected by cancer, as well as Christmas Jumper day in support of Save the Children, helping to support vulnerable children and families across the UK.
Beyond fundraising, we continued to show our support for local communities through sports sponsorships including the AFC Grimsby Ladies junior football team and Leeds Tykes RUFC. These partnerships encourage participation, teamwork, and development at grassroots level and reflect our commitment to supporting local initiatives where we live and work.
Together, these activities highlight that Northern Energy is about more than supplying LPG. They demonstrate our ongoing commitment to supporting communities, backing important causes, and making a positive difference to the people and places we serve.
Looking ahead
From expanding our depot network and investing in new vehicles, to completing new commercial installations and supporting thousands of domestic households, 2025 has firmly positioned Northern Energy for even stronger growth in 2026 and beyond. We enter the new year with a strengthened infrastructure, a growing team, and a clear focus on what matters to our customers.
As we look ahead, we remain fully committed to delivering reliable, efficient and customer-focused fuel solutions, while continuing to invest in our people, our fleet, and our depot network. Just as importantly, we will keep supporting the communities we serve and upholding the values that have guided us for generations. With nearly a century of experience behind us and an exciting future ahead, we look forward to continuing to serve homes and businesses across the UK with the care, reliability, and the dedication they expect from us at Northern Energy.
As we approach the festive season, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
To all our customers, colleagues, and partners, thank you for being part of our journey, and for your continued trust and support. We look forward to working with you in the year ahead and here’s to an exciting 2026!
