Careers at Northern Energy

Gas Engineer

Due to our expanding business, we are looking for a new Gas Engineer.  This is a full-time permanent role and a great opportunity to join our team.

Northern Energy is a family run company based in Hampsthwaite, a small village just outside of Harrogate. Our aim is to serve local communities in the North of England with domestic, commercial, and agricultural oil and LPG. In addition, we offer various services, which complement our business. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service and by being the best in terms of service and delivery.

The role is 40 hours per week basic with a significant amount of overtime available.  We are looking for someone who can install our LPG tanks and carry out any maintenance and repairs required on them. The job is predominantly outside installing, moving and uplifting LPG tanks, not internal boiler repairs or servicing.   You would need to have a full understanding of the Gas safety legislation.

An average day for our Gas Engineer could be installing a gas tank and associated pipework at a customer’s premises or relocating an existing gas tank and altering the pipework accordingly. We also carry out regulator replacements and attend gas leaks where necessary. The work can be physically demanding at times, so you would need to be prepared to undertake this.

Your pay will be based on your skills and experience, but in the range of £16 per hour, overtime paid at £20 per hour. For someone who takes up the overtime available you would have the opportunity to earn more than £40k per year.  A company van will also be provided.

It is essential that you have your Core Gas Ticket, and desirably your LPG ticket, although not essential as we will provide training and are willing to put you through any additional courses that may be required.   You will need a minimum of 5 years gas engineering experience.

This role covers a large area so you will be based from home.  Ideally the successful candidate will be within 30 miles of Wetherby.

We will be carrying out informal telephone interviews for this position w/c 12th April, with face-to-face interviews in the Hampsthwaite office on 22nd April.
