The first thing to do is check your bulk LPG tank storage level. If your tank is running low, it can affect your boiler’s performance as it may struggle to maintain a consistent supply of gas.
There are several common reasons why you may be experiencing issues with your hot water. These can include low system pressure, incorrect thermostat or timer settings, air in the system, or a fault within the boiler itself.
Before calling an engineer, we recommend checking the following:
- Boiler pressure. This should usually be around 1.0 – 1.5 bar when cold
- Thermostat and hot water temperature settings. Ensure they are set correctly
- Timer or programmer. Check the system is set to ‘on’ when hot water is needed
- Other gas appliances. If these are also affected, it may indicate a low or empty LPG tank
If you see an error code on your boiler display, the pressure keeps dropping, or you suspect a gas supply or internal fault, it’s best to call out a Gas Safe registered engineer. They will be able to diagnose the fault quickly and get your heating and hot water back up and running safely.
