Our annual charity golf day – another success!

Here at Northern Energy, we understand the important role we play in local communities, and we’re committed to investing in the well-being of these communities. As part of this commitment, each year we raise money for nominated charities that make a real difference at our annual Northern Energy charity golf day, which has now become a tradition at our family-run firm.

Initially held at the then newly opened Romanby Golf and Country Club in Northallerton, in more recent years the event has been held at Oakdale Golf Club, close to the Northern Energy head office in Hampsthwaite, on the outskirts of Harrogate.

Some of the fantastic charities we have supported over the years include the Children’s Ward at Harrogate Hospital, BBC Children In Need, Cystic Fibrosis Care, Lollipop, and St Michael’s Hospice, in Harrogate.

This year was the 24th Northern Energy charity golf day and it was an amazing day all around - even the weather behaved well. Congratulations to the winning team, Mellor UK, who scored 103 Stableford points, and the individual winner, our very own Sales Director, James Illingworth, who scored 40 Stableford points and played an excellent round of golf (for those that don’t play golf, Stableford points are awarded based on the number of strokes taken on each hole).

An incredible £10,290 was raised and donated to this year's chosen charity, Neuroendocrine Cancer UK.

The charity is particularly close to all our hearts as one of our own, our much-loved friend and colleague Emma Hynam, sadly lost her battle with Neuroendocrine cancer in February this year. Emma was a warm and loving person who fought with strength and courage, and is greatly missed by all of us at Northern Energy.

A big thank you to Oakdale Golf Club for hosting the event again this year, and to everyone for playing, donating and bidding in the silent auction, which allowed us to raise so much money for such a great cause, and we look forward to another successful event in 2025.
