With many of us having worked within the Northern Energy family for many years, we were all delighted to have been nominated for the category of Best Employer in this year’s Stray Ferret Business Awards.
The Award Ceremony was held at The Pavillions of Harrogate on Thursday 15th March, and we were even more delighted and extremely proud when the award for the category of Best Employer, which was sponsored by Jones Myers Family Law, was presented to our Managing Director, Stu, by the host for the evening, Claire Frisby from the BBC.
But it was a truly bittersweet moment, as we won the award in recognition of the support provided by the company to one of our own, Emma Hynam, who very sadly lost her battle with cancer last month.
Emma’s brother, Justin, nominated Northern Energy for the award and was present on the night, as was Emma’s mum. We were hoping that Emma could be with us too - but sadly this was not to be.
Emma had been with Northern Energy as an account manager for some years. She was much loved by both her colleagues and customers alike. She was a warm and loving person who brought a smile to the faces of everyone she met. She fought with strength and courage and she leaves a big hole in the hearts of all of us at Northern Energy.
Stu summed it up in his acceptance speech by saying ‘To be a good business, we need good people. And Emma was one of those great people’.
Emma – we miss you. Rest in peace.
