Northern Energy is based in Hampsthwaite. The villagers were extremely proud to be included on the route of stage 2 and turned out in their droves to line the street. The bunting and decorations hung across the High Street, with the Joiner’s Arms being the hub of excitement.
We sit 5.5 miles away from the finishing line, where UK rider Mark Cavendish famously crashed out of the le Tour de France just yards away from the finish line, suffering a dislocated collarbone. The picture above is Lizzie Deignan from Otley who went on to win Stage 2 shortly after, a true Northern Energy!
