Our Operations Director David Illingworth has just turned 60!
David started working at the family business back in 1970. He enjoys working closely on our fleet of Volvo trucks. David has a passion for all things mechanical, his love of motorsport influenced the theme of his 60th birthday celebrations – Formula 1.
The outdoor party started in typical Yorkshire fashion with a torrential downpour, but it would take more than this to dampen the party spirit!
A Formula one style bar was created using painted oil barrels and straw bales. There were lots of great fancy dress outfits including, The Stig, several Bernie Ecclestone’s and a surprise visit from Penelope Pitstop!
As the rain eventually subsided the fire-pits were lit and the 100 plus friends and family danced on into the night under a Formula 1 themed marquee. Entertainment was provided by Daniel from Blackpool, who dazzled guests with an array of instruments including a saxophone and guitar.
The office team put on a selection of treats including a Formula 1 cake and a celebratory pork pie (David’s favourite) to mark this landmark birthday.
