The Affordable Warmth Obligation is a government run scheme to help people make energy-saving improvements to their homes, such as loft and wall Insulation work and replacing or upgrading old boilers.Home owners using Heating oil or LPG boilers have previously been left out of the offer until now.If you are eligible for this offer, you could receive a modern boiler absolutely free, which in turn will save you money on heating bills for years to come.Insulation Home SaveThe scheme only applies to a small group of UK residents but may well be worth you looking into whether you, a friend or relative are eligible.You must own the property or if renting have the owner’s permission to make the improvements.

According to the government’s own website you must already be receiving one of the following benefits:

  • Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (and your income is £16,010 or less)
  • Working Tax Credit (and your income is £16,010 or less)
  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Universal Credit (and you earned £1,250 or less after tax in any assessment period in the last 12 months)

Further conditions to the criteria above, you:

  • Receive Child Tax Credit and your child’s disabled
  • Get Disabled Child Premium
  • Get Disability Premium
  • Receive a Pensioner Premium
  • You receive a work-related activity or support component - if you’re claiming income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • You are re 60 or over - if you’re claiming Working Tax Credit
  • Get a limited capability for work or work-related activity element - if you’re claiming Universal Credit
  • are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment - if you’re claiming Universal Credit
