Heating oil prices are volatile and change daily, so it can be difficult to know when is the best time to place your order. Many factors affect the price of oil, including supply and demand, the strength of the pound against the US$, and refinery prices.
Events in oil-producing countries and political unrest also play a big part in determining the price of heating oil, and while summer has historically been the best time to buy when demand is low due to warmer weather conditions, with the ongoing world conflicts, there are no guarantees that this will be the case.
We would always advise you to plan ahead, don't leave ordering until the last minute, and avoid times when demand is at a peak such as Christmas, and in extreme weather conditions.
