The regulator has safety devices designed to shut off the gas supply if it detects a pressure problem. This can happen for a number of reasons, including:
- Low tank levels. The pressure in the system can fall when your tank level is very low, causing the regulator's under-pressure safety device (UPSO) to operate
- Changes in supply. Following a delivery, the changes in the tank pressure can sometimes cause the regulator to trip.
- Cold or very wet weather. Extreme weather conditions and temperatures and moisture can affect LPG pressure. It's particularly important to prevent standing water in an underground tank lid, as water can cause corrosion, and potentially damage the regulator if it freezes.
- An issue elsewhere with the LPG installation. If your regulator locks out, it can mean there's a problem with your appliances or pipework that needs investigating
