LPG Tank Installation Options
We offer a range of LPG storage solutions to suit your individual requirements and available space. We can install both above and below-ground tanks in a range of sizes and storage capacity.
The most common size of domestic tank is 1,410 litres which is suitable for most homes, although we are able to supply larger or smaller tanks should these be more appropriate for your needs.
A concrete base will need to be laid and a trench dug to your property. One of our qualified engineers will then install the tank and underground pipework to the property, where it will then be terminated with as isolation valve.
A below-ground tank may provide a great solution to maintaining the appearance of your garden by hiding the tank from view. As the tank will be buried, all that will be visible is a green lid which is required to provide the delivery driver with access to the tank and for the maintenance of the valve arrangement.
As a customer, we would require you to excavate the hole in preparation for the installation of the LPG tank. Again, a concrete base will be required, and either we can supply a pre-cast base or, alternatively, you can lay your own. We will be responsible for the installation of the underground pipework, from the tank to the property, where it will be terminated with an isolation valve.
Excavation guidance notes:
Buried vessels should not be sited in areas prone to flooding, and consideration should be given to the provision of drainage in areas of clay or water retaining soils. Other services, such as water, electricity, telecommunications, drainage etc. should not pass through the vessel excavation. The area must be checked to verify the absence of such hazards. Back-filling must be carried out with great care and in a controlled manner to ensure that the vessel, anchoring straps, service pipe, etc. are not damaged or strained. The back-fill must be carefully compacted underneath the vessel and at stages throughout the back-filling process to prevent voids and excessive settlement. Pea gravel or graded sand should be used for the back-fill.
A site visit will be required to discuss your options for location of the bulk LPG tank, the regulations explained in detail and the most suitable and convenient location agreed.
